| The Fintry Queen is insolvent.http://www.kelowna.com/2009/06/18/3578/ Bailiffs have slapped a notice of seizure on Kelowna's iconic Fintry Queen for non-payment of rent to the city. The boat, a popular tourist attraction, underwent nearly $1 million in upgrades two years ago and returned to the water last summer. However it has not moved from its slip since late last year and Christmas decorations can still be seen on its deck. (Adrian Nieoczym photo) Some of the old advertising for the Fintry M.V. Fintry Queen Ferry Description The "M.V. Fintry Queen", the ferry that ran between Kelowna and Westbank from 1948-58, now takes people on pleasure trips round the lake from the town marina (refreshments on board). The "Okanagan Princess" also leaves on excursions from Kelowna Marina at the end of Queensway. The M.V. Fintry Queen is a paddlewheeler. It was converted from a car ferry to a passenger ferry in the late 1960s and is today an entertainment ship with dinner cruises and dances. The M.V Fintry Queen can also be hired for private functions.
Take a cruise on the MV Fintry Queen, the pride of the Okanagan Lake since 1949. Docked at the foot of Bernard Avenue on Okanagan Lake, the Fintry Queen operated as a passenger and vehicle ferry connecting Highway 97 until the floating bridge was built in 1958, after which she became a floating restaurant.
